The schist stones we quarry and fabricate do not take the high, glitz shine of commercial granites, but they do finish with a pleasing polish that is reflective, but understated. We call our honed finish a satin because of its luminous quality- a matte finish with a lot of depth. Schist is never confused with a synthetic, it always retains its essential rock character and in this way it is closer to a soapstone or a slate....but more durable and stain resistant.

Our stone is a wonderful addition to any fireplace as a stone surround, hearth, mantel or faced out with our snapped stone. We have only a small percentage of photos compared to the many fireplace jobs we have done over the years.
