Landscape Stone

Our Ashfield Schist is Unit 3 (hardest and most durable) of the Goshen Schist formation. This stone has been used in landscape applications in New England for hundreds of years and indeed, as soon as it is incorporated into a landscape, it seems as though it has been there forever.  The color is a silvery, blue-gray with occasional bronzing.  The unique hardness gives our stone crisp, clean edges for wall faces and cap edges. The cleft surface has a fine corduroy texture that provides natural traction  for steps, walkways and patios. We can snap the stone on our guillotine to various shelf depths and make a handsome veneer stone as well. Please have a look at our galleries.

Fine interior Stone

We quarry and fabricate two different kinds of Schist for interior applications. Our Ashfield Schist is a banded Schist that has alternating light and dark layers, the lighter layer we call Quicksilver, the darker layer Galaxy.  This is our most versatile stone lending itself to projects both indoors and out.

Our rare and variegated Crowsfoot Schist has been designated as one of this continent's exotic stones and is used for fine interior applications only.  This stone comes in a multititude of variations that should each be considered limited editions. Please check out our galleries for inspiration.
